Kim’s Background

Before launching Training Canines, LLC, Kim was a professional chef for over twenty years.  Operating her own business and working at Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte.  As the economy turned sour, and her desire to “get out of the kitchen” it led her to pursue a long held passion of training dogs.   Knowing this was definitely what she wanted to do, she did what it took to make it a reality.  Managing kitchens, and catering events for over thousands of people, has given Kim sharp analytical and problem solving skills.  These skills and abilities are the backdrop for Kim being such an effective dog trainer.

Kim lives in Statesville, NC with her husband David, and their three English Mastiffs, Sabre, Sammy and Bernard.

Christina Borders – Trainer

Animals have always fascinated Christina.  Living on a small farm her life has truly revolved around dogs, cats, lizards, birds, and horses. For eight years she worked as a veterinary assistant and developed a great interest in scientific and behavioral study. She saw many dogs and cats visiting the vet that were truly afraid. Owners who did not know what to do to help, and were confused on many pet care issues themselves.

Timing was right for her in her career, when she began to work for Training Canines. She too felt what Kim does, the puppies mind is fascinating and there is so much to learn from them.

Christina has completed the Canine Massage course through the Chicago School of Canine massage.  She has developed a unique massage and yoga program for the puppies at Training Canines.   Combining the quest for the “science” behind the puppy, has lead her to be an invaluable contributor to the Empowered Puppy Program.

Christina is still active within her small farm, which she shares with her two dogs Phoebe and Beignet. She also has, a mixed flock of twenty plus chickens, ducks, and turkeys. When she has a spare moment of time, she enjoys photography, sculpting, and learning more about her two dogs.
